The Space

Karahui sits in the old BNZ Bank, built in 1909, standing proudly on Martinborough’s town square. When we designed the space, we wanted it to feel classy but relaxed, a place that celebrates the talent in our community and makes everyone feel welcome.

We’ve kept many of the building’s original features like the vault, pressed ceilings, Tōtara wood floors, and exposed brickwork. There’s plenty of space between tables, and the acoustics are designed so you can relax and enjoy easy conversation.

Keep an eye out for local creativity on show, from Don Hill’s oil paintings to handmade chandeliers by the local crew at Crystal Chain Gang and screen-printed wallpaper by Ben Masters of Paper-Hands Martinborough along with other special touches from talented makers in our region.

A historic building with neoclassical architecture, illuminated at dusk, featuring arched windows, columns at the entrance, and decorative elements, with a colorful sunset sky in the background.
