The Karahui kaupapa began in 2021 in the heart of Martinborough. Martinborough began in 1870 as the township of Wharekaka.

Hākari - Feast & Celebrate

The Karahui experience evokes conversation, encourages connections, and creates memories. Our culture encourages the genuine care of people in a respectful and supportive environment that recognises and nurtures talent and Manaakitanga, a beautiful way of approaching relationships created amongst guests, friends, colleagues and whanau.

While our food is deeply considered, our style of eating is communal, joyous and relaxed. There are no starched tablecloths or hushed whispers. We want you to eat with your hands, unwind for a few hours and let us take care of you.

Awhi - Nurture & Embrace

Standing proudly at 1 Memorial Square, Karahui is the distinguished former BNZ building built back in 1909 which recently underwent extensive renovations. The BNZ is an iconic Martinborough building with a lot of local history, and we feel extremely honored to have been given the opportunity to Awhi, nurture and take care of her.

Supporting and showcasing local talents are important to us. It is all about nurturing and embracing our community in which we live. Come and see stunning chandeliers from Martinborough’s Crystal Chain Gang , Ben Masters’ hand-printed wallpapers as well as original works by renowned local artist Don Hill.
